SO WHAT ELSE DO WE HAVE PLANNED FOR REUNION XII?

Besides the usual great time planned for the Auction and the Banquet we are looking at:

SANDLAPPER HISTORIC HARBOR TOUR

Captain Bryan Collins knows how to drive the boat, The Palmetto a 45' Corinthian Catamaran but we will have a licensed tour guide with us to explain the history of Charleston and it's harbor in detail. This is a two hour tour with a chance to see some dolphins in the harbor. Click here to go to their website.

THE CHARLESTON TEA PLANTATION

The Charleston Tea Plantation is the ONLY tea plantation in America and makes "Charleston Classic" tea. We plan to take the short trip to Wadmalaw Island to visit the Plantation, take the 'famous' Trolly Tour and have lunch as their special guests. This is geared for the ladies but it is open to everyone. Click here to go to their website.

LOW COUNTRY OYSTER ROAST

At first we were not sure if there would be enough interest to pull the roast off but the response has been great! Anyone sending in their registration who wants to go to the oyster roast can add $25 per person to your registration fees. This will be at the James Island American Legion Post on Folly Road. If you have never been to an Oyster Roast this is your opportunity to enjoy the best oysters on the east coast. If you have never tried 'em, we will teach you how to shuck, dip and eat them like the locals. If you don't eat oysters we will have chili, hot dogs and other snacks. It is an experience you won't forget.

THE CSS HUNLEY MUSEUM

The CSS Hunley Museum has been featured at every Reunion in Charleston and this is no exception. The conservators have recently removed the hull from the tank of water it has been stored in since it was raised. This allows everyone a closer view of the whole boat. We will provide the ride to and from the Museum. Click here to go to their website.

THE CITADEL PARADE

The Citadel is the Military College of South Carolina. Every Friday, weather permitting, they have the Corps of Cadets Parade. If you have never attended, it is an impressive display. Our visit will begin with a tour of the campus led by a Citadel Cadet and we will then be seated at the VIP area for the Parade. Click here to go to their website.

MCLEOD PLANTATION HISTORIC SITE

McLeod Plantation is a Charleston County historical site that is not frozen in time but a constantly evolving story. McLeod was built on the riches of Sea Island Cotton and tells the evolution of the parallel lives of the plantation owners and the slaves/freedmen/valued workers that came through the years together. We will visit the grounds and hear the stories of interdependence. Click here to go to their website.

PATRIOTS POINT

Discount tickets for Patriots Point will be available. They have a newly updated Vietnam War Exhibit, Medal of Honor Museum and new, interactive Exhibits on the destroyer (target) USS Laffey. Click here to go to their website.

THE FAMOUS USS ALEXANDER HAMILTON AUCTION

Our AUCTION is a rollicking good time with unique items for sale. Beverage bottles engraved with the Hamilton Coat of Arms, wood pieces from the USS Constitution (yes, Old Ironsides), 617 Cookbooks and other treasures. If you have an item that you would like to donate as an auction item please get in touch with either Frank Bonner or John Braasch by e-mail. They will tell you where to send or bring the item.

THE STRAIGHT SKINNY ON YOUR ASSOCIATION DUES

The Reunion Association would like to make sure we all understand the importance of the Alexander Hamilton Association dues. If your name is highlighted on the crew list page, your dues are paid up. As in the past the cost per crewmember is $20.00 total for both years. This will provide us up front money for the next reunion, mailing costs, etc. Membership also gives shipmates a vote in any decisions that will be made with regard to the Association. Please send your dues $$ to Jim Koogler's address above. We thank you for your continued support.

LEST WE FORGET......THE BELL TOLLING CEREMONY WILL BE PART OF EACH REUNION TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE:

TO THE LIST OF DEPARTED SHIPMATES
